Suggestive Design
Adam Bienenstock uses ‘suggestive design’ when designing his
natural playgrounds. Adam's ability to keep an open mind and his experience growing up playing in
nature play an important role in all of his designs. His understanding of the importance of suggestive design ensures that your children will have the best possible space facilitating their development, keeping them happy and healthy!
Suggestive Design: the
process of designing playgrounds that have no specific method of play; a child’s
imagination is the determining factor.
Prescriptive Design:
the process of designing playgrounds that have a specific method of play that
children are supposed to follow.
By using suggestive design Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds have
limitless options for children.
Suggestive design allows for a child’s imagination to determine how he
or she is going to play with a particular component. Suggestive design spreads out components in
such a way as to not identify a clear path from one to the next. It is always up to the children how the
playgrounds should be used.
Suggestive Design and
Play Value Play Value is the value children receive from play.
Bienenstock Natural playgrounds have a higher play value than play
structures. Suggestive design has a higher play value than prescriptive
design. Thus, by using suggestive design Bienenstock natural playgrounds have the highest play value possible.
