Growing Canadian Democracy, is a group of Canadians eager to assist communities across the country through the process of creating the changes they wish to see in their community.

They believe there is a need for a charitable organization whose purpose is to help communities unite and work with government, agencies and the media for a shared goal. These goals could be to establish a new park, enhance local government services, launch a festival or just about any project that would enrich our community.

    The Child & Nature Alliance

Around the world, there is a growing movement to reconnect children and families to nature for improved health and wellbeing. Internationally catalyzed by the Children and Nature Network based in the United States, we launched a Canadian component called the Child and Nature Alliance Society in March 2009.  The Alliance is a virtual network of organizations and individuals who are working to connect children to nature through education, advocacy, programming, policy, research, care-giving, and the built environment.

As a society, we are raising the first generation of Americans to grow up disconnected from nature.

    That's the bad news.

The good news is that the steps that got us here are easily traced, and the way to work toward reversing them is clear.

Most importantly, by giving our children a "Green Hour" a day -- a bit of time for unstructured play and interaction with the natural world -- we can set them on the path toward physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
