The Children & Nature
Network (C&NN) was created to encourage and support the people and
organizations working to reconnect children with nature. C&NN provides
access to the latest news and research in the field and a peer-to-peer network
of researchers and individuals, educators and organizations dedicated to
children's health and well-being.
Maple Key
Growing Canadian Democracy, is a group of Canadians eager to
assist communities across the country through the process of creating
the changes they wish to see in their community.
They believe there is a need for a charitable organization whose purpose is
to help communities unite and work with government, agencies and the
media for a shared goal.
These goals could be to
establish a new park, enhance local government services, launch a
festival or just about any project that would enrich our community.

Around the world, there is a growing movement to reconnect
children and families to nature for improved health and wellbeing.
Internationally catalyzed by the Children and Nature Network
based in the United States, we launched a Canadian component called the
Child and Nature Alliance Society in March 2009. The Alliance is a
virtual network of organizations and individuals who are working to
connect children to nature through education, advocacy, programming,
policy, research, care-giving, and the built environment.
KidActive

Inspired by the
critical need to address immediate physical and mental health issues facing
Canada's young people, KidActive was founded to foster the development of
healthy kids, communities and outdoors. We are committed to the
development of life long health solutions that inspire and motivate children
and youth to reach their full potential and contribute positively to their
communities and natural environment.

The Trust for Public Land (TPL) is a national, nonprofit, land
conservation organization that conserves land for people to enjoy as
parks, community gardens, historic sites, rural lands, and other
natural places, ensuring livable communities for generations to come.

As a society, we are raising the first generation of Americans to grow up disconnected from nature.
That's the bad news.
The good news is that the steps that got us here are easily traced, and the way to work toward reversing them is clear.
Most importantly, by giving our children a "Green Hour" a day -- a bit of time for unstructured play and interaction with the natural world -- we can set them on the path toward physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
