GFL is researching the use of biodiesel to
power its trucks with environmentally friendly fuel.
We have not yet found a distributor that is willing to sell biodiesel on a
smaller retail scale. If anyone has any information where GFL can buy
biodiesel please contact Jeff Cowan immediately at jeff@gardensforliving.ca.
Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that reduces
greenhouse gas emissions and tailpipe exhaust emissions. It is
biodegradable and is made from animal fats, recycled cooking oils and
restaurant grease. In 2005, biodiesel was introduced in Canada and is
quickly becoming a popular North American alternative to standard petroleum.
Biodiesel is not new to the world; it is widely available at typical gas
stations in Europe. Moreover, as a way
to reduce greenhouse gas emissions the EU has made Biodiesel a mandatory
component of typical petroleum since 2005.
